EXTRAORDINARY PROFESSORSHIP OF DIACONATE AT THE PROTESTANT THEOLOGICAL UNIVERSITY (PThU)
The extraordinary professorship of Diaconate at the Protestant Theological University has been established for a period of five years, starting from the 1st of September 2007. Stichting Rotterdam finances this professorship and has additionally raised funds for employment of a PhD-student. The professorship i.e. the appointment of dr. Herman Noordegraaf intends to promote a scientific approach to the diaconate by churches. The foundation expects this chair to stimulate practical diaconal work.
On 25th April 2008 Professor Noordegraaf held his inaugural lecture in Leiden. (Title of the oratio: "Voor wie nemen wij de hoed af? Enige gedachten over diaconiewetenschap")
REQUESTS IN 2008
28% of the requests comes from communities or organisations affiliated with the Protestant Church of the Netherlands (PKN). Ecumenical organisations make up 49% of the requests. Another 10% of the requests comes from evangelical and general organisations. Small protestant communities (f.e. Doopsgezind, Ethiopian-Orthodox, Gereformeerde Gezindte) represent 4% of the requests. About 41% of the requests relate to activities in abroad, which amounts to 45% of the money donated in 2008.
