Stichting Rotterdam is a Christian foundation which was founded to promote activities in the fields of church and social welfare work and culture. Stichting Rotterdam was founded in 1955 by Hendricus Johannes Bonda (1898-1966). After the Second World War his company, Provimi, expanded rapidly. In 1954 half of his industrial holdings were endowed to Stichting Rotterdam.

H.J. Bonda

The church and his faith were central to Mr. Bonda's life. Churches and church-related institutions often turned to him for financial help and support. To ensure a clear structure and guaranteed continuity for handling these requests for financial support Mr. Bonda founded Stichting Rotterdam. His support of Christian activities in the field of church and social welfare work were a concrete expression of his religious faith.

Mission

Stichting Rotterdam gives financial support to churches, institutions or groups which are active in the field of church social welfare work and culture. The beliefs and ideas which form the basis of the foundation can be expressed in the words of the founder:

"As Christians we must strive for justice for our neighbours. Every human being should do his utmost to prevent injustice and to fulfill the mission God has given him."

Stichting Rotterdam thus supports activities which strive towards achieving these ends. The charter of the foundation requires that well-defined criteria be followed in evaluating requests for support.
